Undergraduate Program

The four-year undergraduate programs have three main educational objectives. The first objective is to educate design/planning experts through intensified design education. The second objective is to conduct user-oriented field education so that students may acquire, not only theories but, practical knowledge and experiences with materials and construction processes. The final objective is to offer updated educational opportunities expose students to contemporary issues such as digital information, cultural contents and landscape ecology so as to be professionally prepared for the ever-evolving social demands for landscape architects. A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is given when a student finishes undergraduate programs.

Every student is required to be enrolled in at least one design studio class per semester.  The department provides various compulsory major courses to organize educational contents according to his/her professional goals since theoretical and practical courses in various specialties are frequently opened and updated.

Graduate Program

Today’s environmental problems, whether they arise from urban areas or more ecologically sensitive areas, make it difficult to plan, and maintain a sustainable environment with focused knowledge and experience in one specialized realm. Therefore, a landscape architect has to acquire overall knowledge and a balanced understanding of related fields. The graduate programs aim to generate specialists in planning and design who can take initiative in such complicated circumstances. Accordingly, an important goal of education is set on raising specialists with theoretical knowledge and the practical ability to work within compliance of such requirements.  The graduate program curriculum is structured to be able to prepare students for specialties in urban landscape, landscape history, urban space, CAD/GIS, landscape architectural theory and criticism, environmental ecology, tourism and leisure planning, and landscape design. Additionally, it maintains unique educational and practical connections with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, state-invested agencies and landscape architectural firms to foster practical field-oriented experts. By participating in diversified projects before graduation, graduate students obtain balanced knowledge of the theoretical and practical realms, and they are tuned to research practical affairs to solve actual problems.
